Peter Parker wakes up, gets ready for the day, and says goodbye to his Aunt May.
He then goes to school, where he is bullied and misunderstood by everyone but his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. He has no trouble with his schoolwork, though, for he is extremely bright.
He then reports for his job as a freelance photographer for The Daily Bugle.
All the while, he is concealing his true identity as Spider-Man, the web-slinging superhero given his powers by a bite from a genetically mutated spider.
He fights nefarious villains like The Green Goblin, The Lizard, and Doctor Octopus.
I would like to depict a day in the life of Spider-Man, aka Peter Parker,
because I love the fact that he is just an awkward, brainy teen by day, but he
gets to break out of his shell and be a badass superhero who always accompanies
his punches with witty one-liners. I want the final collage to be a mixture of
original comic illustrations and photographs, juxtaposing elements of fantasy
and reality. I would like to separate the two parts of Peter's world by placing
the elements related to his personal life on one side and the elements related
to his crime fighting career on the other. The Spider-man logo in the center of
the composition will serve to bring the two sides together. I intend to use the picture
of the spider web as a backdrop for the whole composition because it not only
depicts the webbing shot from the mechanical shooters on the superhero’s
wrists, it also represents the tangled web of secrets and hidden identity that
Peter is forced to live with every day. My aim is to have this collage feel
like the original comics as much as possible. I want to maintain the almost campy
vibe of the issues from the 1960s.
I will be hand illustrating the Spider-Man logo
and perhaps some comic book exclamations like "POW" and
"ZAM" to indicate action. I will also be taking a close up photograph
of a fist fight to place alongside the
images of the various villains.
